Training on AI Integration for Apprehensive Teachers
Following workshops with teachers on needs, wants, and desires regarding student use of AI in the classroom, I developed a new training resource for teachers who were hesitant to work with AI at any level. The goal of this PD was to encourage teachers to think about the different levels at which generative AI can be used in the classroom by students to identify where their comfort level existed. With this in mind, apprehensive teachers were not simply turning their backs on generative AI use, but engaging with it in ways that supported and enhanced student learning in their classrooms. Training on new LMS for virtual transition
To support the transition to remote learning for the fall of 2020, I co-designed and launched a virtual summer program that served over 470 students and involved more than 60 instructional staff. I collaborated on the development of differentiated, standards-aligned content and helped guide the program’s successful execution. As a co-leader of a cross-functional instructional team, I facilitated strong faculty adoption of a new learning management system and ensured effective student AND teacher onboarding through daily training slides to walk teachers through the ins and outs of the next day’s content, LMS features, and how to present using Big Blue Button. Training on Districtwide Research Databases
Working with a team of secondary school librarians, I designed a comprehensive unit of lessons aimed at teaching students and teachers how to effectively access and use online databases. Librarians conducted a needs assessment to understand common challenges and skill gaps among students and staff. Drawing from this input, the team mapped out a scope and sequence of lessons that introduced research strategies, source evaluation, keyword searching, and citation practices. We then scaffolded instruction for our newly acquired Gale research databases, including slide decks, student handouts, and video tutorials. Lessons were piloted in select classrooms, and feedback was gathered to refine content for clarity, engagement, and accessibility. The finalized unit was uploaded to the district’s Schoology platform, complete with teacher guides and student-facing resources, making it easy for librarians to integrate into instruction. |
Additional PD Topics
During my tenure at AAPS, I have become a trusted presenter for newly adopted instructional technology tools districtwide. I quickly learn and master new platforms—often as they are being introduced—and consistently demonstrate the ability to effectively teach and support colleagues. Known for my responsive and adaptable approach, I tailor professional learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of educators, providing clear, differentiated instruction that fosters confidence and practical application.
