Rebuilding Together- at Gordon Hall
Katharine Dexter McCormick Event Room

In cooperation with the Washtenaw County Chapter of Rebuilding Together I coordinated the effort to redecorate one of four apartments at Gordon Hall (the home of the founder of Dexter) to enable the Dexter Area Historical Society and Museum to rent out the facility for public and private events.  The new room provides a usable and comfortable space that evokes the charm and reflects the setting of when the home was first constructed in 1841 by Judge Samuel Dexter.

My duties included:
-Designing and developing a plan for redecoration of the newly named "Katharine Dexter McCormick Event Room" with consideration towards the historic nature of the home.
-Discussing the plan for redecoration with and receiving approval from the Historical Society board
-Speaking with local service clubs to raise money for materials
-Presenting the plan at multiple community events to generate interest and recruit volunteers
-Working with local business to garner products and services at reduced and donated fees
-Preparing home and materials for the one day event
-Organizing and working with volunteers on the day of the event
-Coordinating donations of appropriate antiques to furnish the event room
-Reporting the success of event to the Historical Society board
